About
In 2023, we started the PBSA - Portugal Business Services Association to be the voice of our sector, promoting and facilitating cooperation with other public or private entities.
From a wide range of functional areas, we are a network of different captive shared services companies in Portugal. In 2024 PBSA joined ABSL and rebranded to leverage its international reach and global platform.

Overview
The number of sites continues to grow, which is mirrored in terms of the number of jobs created (FTE = full time equivalent). The figures show a 97% growth between 2018 and 2021
Despite the pandemic, there was a significant growth in the years 2020 and 2021. 87% of respondents increased the number of FTEs in 2021. In 2021, the number of jobs increased by 33% in the regions outside Lisbon and Porto when compared to the previous year, a much higher percentage than in the larger cities.

His background as well as working with a variety of industries and challenges gave him the ability to anticipate and promote change and transform in order to deliver the best service and operations experience.

Carlos Guimarães holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Financial Management degree from ISCAP, Politécnico do Porto. Passionate about people, numbers, and fostering a collaborative environment, Carlos brings a contagious energy to every team he works with, motivating those around him to excel in their roles.
Carlos joined adidas in 2009 as an accountant, when the Porto office was a small team of just 12 members. Over the years, he has played a pivotal role in its remarkable transformation. Today, the office has grown to over 900 employees, with Carlos at the heart of this evolution. Since 2016, as the leader of adidas Porto, and from January 2021 as VP for GBS Operations and Head Office of adidas Porto, he oversees a dynamic portfolio that now includes not only GBS but also TECH, Supply Chain Management, and Digital.
Beyond his professional achievements, Carlos is known for his boundless enthusiasm and team spirit—and, of course, for being a devoted Star Wars fan!
